IIT Palakkad is located within close proximity of Palakkad town and Coimbatore city and provides a safe and free environment for its students to nurture their interests and aspirations. IIT Palakkad offers B.Tech programmes in Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Data Science and Engineering and Electrical Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering with a total yearly intake of around 180 students. Seat allocation for admission to IIT Palakkad's B.Tech programs is managed by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) 2023.

Every discipline has a curriculum consisting of core and elective courses that are carefully chosen to give a broad grip on the fundamentals of engineering and an in-depth understanding of the respective discipline. The students also have the flexibility to select elective courses based on their interests. There is also a pool of Humanities, Social Science and other general courses which help the all-round development of the students. A dynamic choice-based credit curriculum will be implemented from this year onwards, allowing the students to take courses that are not linked to semesters. A standard course plan will be provided to complete all the credit requirements in 4 years. But each student is free to modify it as they go. Course registration is restricted only by prerequisites and consent of the teacher and not attached to the student semester. New regulations also allow the students to choose multiple degree options such as B.Tech, B.Tech with Honours, B.Tech with Honours (by Research), B.Tech with Minor, B.Tech-M.Tech dual degree, and B.Tech double major. IIT Palakkad's well-stocked central library and online access to digital resources provide students with a large collection of books and associated material. All classrooms, hostels and assembly areas are Wi-Fi enabled to provide seamless connectivity to resources. In addition, students can transform their ideas into reality through the facilities available in the Innovation Lab. Like any successful institute, IIT Palakkad has well-qualified and energetic young and experienced faculty members who provide high-quality academic experience to students. IIT Palakkad’s faculty members also take pride in their commitment towards the teaching-learning process.

IIT Palakkad witnessed promising participation of companies in campus recruitment. A total of 211 companies participated in the campus recruitment program this year across the sectors, and 207 offers have been made for the academic year 2021-2022. The highest total package was INR 1.2 crore, an average CTC of 15.21 Lakhs, and a UG placement percentage of 97.27 were achieved for the current placement season. Eight International offers were made from 4 companies with a global footprint. The major recruiters include Indeed, Texas Instruments, Adobe, AMD, MediaTek, Maruti Suzuki, MathWorks, Arista Networks, L&T Group, GE, Versa Networks, Wabtec Corp, Paytm, Deloitte, IBM, Cargill, Capgemini, Tejas Networks, ZVC India, ICICI Bank, HCL, Intel, Qualcomm, Mercedes-Benz, Tata Group, OLA etc.

Many of our graduates decided to pursue higher studies in reputed institutes such as Georgia Tech, University of Birmingham, Arizona State University, Purdue University, North Carolina State University, Brown University, etc. These statistics stand as factual evidence of the skills of the students that our quality curriculum has nurtured.
